The 21 years old French international Yann M’Vila could end up joining Barcelona according to his manager, after just missing out on a transfer to Arsenal.
Wenger targeted the young defensive midfielder all summer long and also submitted a number of offers for him, but Rennes snubbed all of them out. The last reported fee Arsene officially submitted for the midfielder is rumoured to be somewhere around £20 million, but Rennes refused to let the player go.
That would perhaps prove to be a wise decision for Rennes taking into consideration that M’Vila is a first team player at his national squad at such a young age, and playing for France at next summer’s Euro 2012 might even double his transfer market value.
Rennes manager Frederic Antonetti spoke very highly of his player and according to him M’Vila might even be ready for a Barcelona transfer starting next season: “With us he will be able to keep fresh and will be well prepared for Euro 2012 as well,”
“Then he will take flight and will go very high in the game because there are very few players like him.
“If he continues the way he is going, he could end up playing in front of the Barca defence.”
Coach Antonetti might be right, and Wenger should go ahead and hurry to secure M’Vila’s signing in the winter if he still wants to have a chance in doing so.
