Podolski ready for a transfer to Arsenal?…But Why?

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger seems ready to have another go at transferring a top notch striker as The Daily Mail announces that the manager is ready to submit a fairly big transfer fee for FC Koln striker Lukas Podolski and bring him to the Emriates.

Although it would be an awesome addition to the club, Podolski’s transfer could also mean that Chamakh would be completely out of the race and that newly transferred Park would also get fewer and fewer chances to play for Arsenal.

Reports of a £20 million swoop for the striker have appeared after Arsenal’s scouts were spotted at Koln’s games throughout the current Bundesliga season.

The 26-year-old striker scored 8 goals in 11 goals for Koln so far this season and he’d even be a challenge for Dutchman Robin Van Persie if brought to the club. Wenger already has a bucket load of attacking players so there would be no need to transfer the German even though his arrival would be beneficial if Van Persie would get injured. Podolski is not really the striker you’d play on the wing and in this circumstances bringing him to the club would only force you to choose between him and Robin Van Persie.
