Arsenal’s winger Theo Walcott seems delighted about the fact that Gervinho replaced Arshavin in Wenger’s first team as his counterpart. The English international praised the Ivorian for his performances so far and offered a complete statement to Arsenal.com regarding this.
“He’s been fantastic this season,” Walcott told Arsenal.com.
“Obviously [English football] is totally different to what he’s used to playing but now he is playing week in week out in the Premier League, which is very physical, and he is showing his qualities.
“He has still got a lot to learn and he knows that – but you can start to see that Gervinho is going to be the right type of player for Arsenal.”
The Russian winger Andrey Arshavin is rumoured to be close to a switch in January, and a possible destination for him would be Russian team Zenit St Petersburg.
Now the question is…what is this about? Everybody knows that Arshavin is at a very low due to the fact that he’s been sidelined, and this comes as another blow to the Russian’s ego. Is Walcott trying to say that Gervinho is better, or just that Gervinho is a good player for Arsenal?
