Paris St Germain are top of the French Ligue 1 after the new Qatari oweners started investing last summer by buying Kevin Gameiro, Momo Sissokho, Jeremy Menez and Javier Pastore amongst others and are intending to keep going (like Man City?) until they have a team capable of challenging for the Champions League.
Although manager Antione Kombouare is doing okay, it is being reported in France that PSG want Arsene Wenger to lead them into Europe next season, and are willing to give him an unlimited budget if he decides he has had enough of life at the Emirates this season.
In his interview with L’Equipe a few weeks ago, he gave PSG some hope that he would walk away from Arsenal if they failed to make the Top Four this year, and they are planning to offer him a contract of Real Madrid proportions as well as a team capable of sweeping all before them.
Wenger was under pressure from Arsenal fans last summer after allowing Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri to leave, and if the Gunners fail to make the Top Four and Robin Van Persie leaves, then he may consider his position even though he has pledged to see out his contract just this week. He said: “For me, it is a non-story. The club can decide to get rid of me tomorrow morning, but I cannot interfere with that decision.
“I have two more years to go, will stay and that is it.”
Wenger loves Paris and obviously PSG love Wenger, but could they tempt him away from “The Club of his Life”??
