One of Arsenal’s most wanted January targets had a near-death experience after a terrible car accident. German striker Lukas Podolski is a well known transfer target for Arsenal’s manager who wants to replace Marouane Chamakh with a top quality footballer.
Chamakh is likely to leave in January with PSG as a possible destination, and Podolski’s form recommends him for an Arsenal transfer. FC Koln’s no’ 10 scored 9 goals in 14 games played in this season of the Bundesliga, but the accident might keep him away from the pitch for a while.
Even though he escaped unscathed the German striker was in a bit of shock after the accident and declared:
“Thank God, nothing much happened.”
The German police told the press that he crushed another car while driving towards training, but everybody escaped without any damage. The three who were riding in the other car were taken to the hospital just to make sure they’re unhurt.
Podolski can not only be seen as a replace for the outgoing Chamakh, but also a very viable option for Robin Van Persie when the Dutchman gets injured. The German is able to play as a lone striker like Robin does at the moment, but is also able to play in a 4-4-2 formation.
