Arsenal seems to be one of the most unlucky teams in the world, and after Arsene Wenger lost Wilshere to an ankle injury a few months ago, now full-back Santos is also out with an ankle injury which he will have to undergo surgery on.
“Arsenal Football Club can confirm that, following investigations and subsequent medical opinions by club specialists, left-back Andre Santos will have surgery to repair ligament damage in his right ankle sustained in the game against Olympiakos last week,” read the statement released on Arsenal.com
“Andre will have surgery in Brazil this week and is expected to be out for around three months.
“Everyone at the club wishes him well.”
Santos was one of the very few first team players who started the match against Olympiakos and Wenger is probably kicking himself right about now. The Brazilian showed an incredible form since he joined Arsenal and even scored a few times for the Gunners.
With Song, Gibbs and Jenkinson also out, Wenger will surely have to transfer some full-backs in January who can cover until the injuries go away. Who do you think should join?
