Even though the transfer window has now passed the halfway mark Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger doesn’t seem too keen to make a few transfers which could really take the club to a whole new level.
The summer was very hard on Arsenal and losing Nasri, Fabregas and Clichy dealt a huge blow on the Gunners who just managed to pull back from the horrible span by transferring Mertesacker, Arteta, Benayoun and Santos on the last few days of the transfer window.
But let’s face it, Benayoun is no Nasri and Arsenar are unlikely to choose to transfer him on a permanent basis. And even though they managed to bounce back after the horrible start of the season, they are still on the 5th position which is low by any standards for such a big club.
Arsenal did bring in Henry, but during the first half of the season rumours were linking the Gunners with a move for 3 different players which can change the face of Arsenal completely and why not get them right back into the fight for the title.
The first one is Ajax centre-back Jan Vertonghen, and don’t rush into saying that Arsenal has enough of those because he plays at the Belgian national squad as a defensive midfielder and does an incredible job, and when needed does a job just as good playing in the left-back position proving to be an incredible asset for a team like Arsenal who are well-known for injury problems and since Frimpong left on loan only have Coquelin to cover for Song.
The second one and perhaps the most important one, is Lille attacking midfielder Eden Hazard who could easily replace Samir Nasri and be just as good, lighting up Arsenal’s attack once again and creating the same beautiful game the Gunners used to play but don’t seem to do that anymore now-a-days.
The third and last transfer Wenger should make is that of Koln striker Lukas Podolski who can act as a target man if Robin gets injured, as a second striker alongside Robin or as a winger if needed showing he has the skill to cover all three positions for clubs like Bayern Munich or his national team squad. He could prove vital if Robin gets injured and even if he doesn’t because he has proved time and time again that he’s one of the best strikers in the world
There you have it, Wenger only needs 3 transfers to make the world go round for him in the right direction and he should start thinking hard about the possibility of doing these transfers because Arsenal isn’t doing good at all right now.
