Zenit back in for Arshavin after Danny injury

The Arsenal midfielder recently announced through his agent that he had no intention of talking to the new Russian moneybags team FC Anzhi after they made an approach for him, but the Russia captain has always said that he would only rejoin Zenit St Petersburg if he returned to the motherland.

Well today it has been revealed that Zenit are now ready to make an approach to Arsenal as their Portugese playmaker Danny Miguel (who was originally bought to replace Arshavin when he joined the Gunners) has damaged a ligament at their Italian training camp, and is expected to be out for at least the next six months.

This now means that are in dire need of another star midfielder and cannot now wait until the summer to make their offer. The Russian transfer window doesn’t shut for another two weeks and The Mail reports that Zenit now want Arshavin to come in before then

By that time Arsenal will also have Gervinho back from the ACN and, along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, will restrict the chances of Arshavin getting much first-team action at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger has already stated that he doesn’t want Arshavin to leave this month but if the player himself asks to be allowed to return to his old club there will be very little reason for Wenger to say no this time around.
