Time to pick the Arsenal team to face Tottenham by JustArsenal.com
Arsenal have had very many crucial games since the turn of the year and, to be honest, haven’t come out of many of them with the result they wanted, but for Arsenal fans this one against Tottenham is probably even more important!
Not only are Spurs ten points clear of the Gunners, and needing to be pegged back, Chelsea, Newcastle and Liverpool are all waiting to pounce on an Arsenal defeat to snatch Fourth Place.
So Arsene simply must put out his best team available and go all out for the win, but what is his best team from the choices available?
Okay we know that Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby (who?), Andre Santos and Per Mertesacker all all definitely out of contention through long-term injury, and they were joined on the treatment table by Aaron Ramsey (ankle), Francis Coquelin (hamstring) and Sebastien Squillaci (severe lack of talent) after last weeks game.
The good news is that Carl Jenkinson and Kieran Gibbs seem to have recovered from their knacks, so the players expected to be available to Wenger are: Szczesny, Gibbs, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Sagna, Song, Arteta, Gervinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Van Persie, Fabianski, Benayoun, Chamakh, Park, Rosicky, Miquel.
Arshavin (our dearly departed), Park and Benayoun all scored for the Arsenal reserves in midweek, while Chamakh had to come off after half an hour with a sore toe (no, honestly!) so perhaps Wenger is thinking of giving the other two a chance to emulate that feat against Tottenham, but who would YOU choose out of that lot?
