All Arsenal fans spend half their time worrying about whether Robin Van Persie will sign a new contract at the Emirates this summer, but there doesn’t seem to be the same urgency to get Theo Walcott to accept a new extension despite the 22 year-old also having just one year left on his current deal.
Walcott is seen as being too inconsistent to warrant a big pay-rise, but his two goals against Tottenham on Sunday has highlighted his ability to confound when he hits a little bit of form and he is said to be wanted by various Italian teams if he can’t reach an agreement with Arsenal.
Now, according to a report in today’s Express, it seems that Harry Redknapp (who originally gave Walcott his League debut when he was manager at Southampton) is watching developments closely and is keen to try and steal Walcott in the summer.
The paper reports that “a close friend of Redknapp” has told their reporters: “Harry loves Theo. He would love to manage him again for Spurs or England.”
Harry obviously knows Theo very well and believes he knows how to get the best out of him, but would Arsenal fans be worried if he moved to White Hart Lane this summer?
