The Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny believes that the Gunners are now assured of Third Place in the Premiership and may even catch Man City for second after beating them 1-0 on Sunday. In most sportsbook reviews Arsenal are quoted at 8/1 to finish second, but with 10 points to make up in just six games it is extremely unlikely, but you never know…
“I believe we will finish third,” Szczesny said. “Man City have lost their chance of the title – it was a big blow to us last year and they might drop a little bit, so who knows maybe we can catch them as well.
“Our aim is to win every game and if we do that we will be in the Champions League next year.”
Man City didn’t have one shot on target against Szczesny this weekend, and that is enough to convince the young Pole that Arsenal were worthy winners.
“I thought we deserved to win from start to finish,” he said. “Joe Hart made some good saves, we were unlucky at times but I’m sure even the Man City players would admit we deserved to win.
“We played them a few months ago at their place and they were fantastic, as good as we have faced this season, so I was expecting a busy game.
“But I will take my clean sheet, even if I had nothing to do. I was very pleased with the defensive performance of the back four and the whole team.”
And if they continue to play like that there is no way that Arsenal can lose Third Place, but can they really get second?
