News coming through this morning is that following a fitness test yesterday morning, Bacary Sagna was passed fit and so traveled with the squad that is to face Manchester city later this afternoon. The news comes as boost to many a gooner who were fearing for their chances coming up against a star studded Manchester city side at home with understudy Carl Jenkinson; who was found wanting in their midweek game versus Napoli. Both balls that lead to the goals that Arsenal conceded that evening came in from the right back position that was meant to be kept secure by the second choice defender.
Meanwhile though, hopes of seeing Lukas Podolsk in the same squad might have to wait for a couple of days as the manager deemed him mentally unfit to be thrown into the fray just yet. Hence if there is to even be a chance of him being seen on the pitch, then it would only be as a substitute and most likely only in desperate attempts to get a goal. Speaking in his pre-game press interview, Arsene Wenger had this to say about Lukas: “He is available. I feel he is still a bit short to go into a match of that level of intensity, but after this weekend I will consider him to be available”
Possible Arsenal Staring XI:
(GK) Wojeich Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Flamini, Ramsey; Walcott, Ozil, Wilshere; Giroud.
