Arsenal’s next match is against Newcastle and certainly a must win if Arsenal want to return to the summit of the league table. With some players showing clear signs of fatigue and with some showing signs of freshness after showing the Hammers a clean pair of heels, Wenger will have to ring changes.
The obvious ones would involve Ramsey, Ozil and Giroud. The Welshman is injured which means he will have to be replaced while Wenger has already spoken about resting the German who has looked jaded in recent games.
The big decision would involve the central striking role. Giroud has led the line since the beginning of the season but seems to have ran out of the steam in recent games, looking fatigued and with no goals in eight games across all competitions, it might just be time to take him out of the firing line. With Podolski back to action and Walcott’s fine form in front of goal, I believe Wenger can afford to rest the Frenchman.
If he is not so comfortable with Podolski and Walcott leading the line, he could put him on the bench and bring him in only if need be. The more he plays without a break, the higher the chances of not scoring which could frustrate him the more and probably hurt the team’s title chances.
Podolski is fresh and ready to fire to make up for the lost time, he should be given the chance to do so. Few games off won’t kill Giroud, would only help him in his quest to rediscover his goalscoring touch.
