Arsenal’s brightest prospect Dan Crowley has suffered yet another injury, this time on his ankle after appearing for Arsenal under 21’s against Middleborough on Wednesday night. This much was confirmed by the player who tweeted on twitter the following :
He went further to confirm ( still on twitter ) to Jack Wilshere that he has “done” his ankle. Sixteen year old Crowley is thought of very highly at not just Arsenal but in all of England and is deemed to be one the most prodigious talent to come through any English academy. It probably comes as no surprise that Arsenal were willing to shell out £1m to steal him from Aston Villa. But as with any player, talent alone does not dictate their future in the game. There is a growing concern among the Arsenal faithful due to Crowley’s persisting injuries which they hope do not hamper his development.
Crowley has been in fine form this season with his finest performance coming against Peterborough where he scored four and assisted two in a 6-1 route. His performances have been exciting and drawing a keen following at the youth level. He has regularly been compared with compatriot, Jack Wilshere who has touted Crowley as a star of the future.
The fans will be hoping that this injury will not keep him out for long. It is his second one in a season already and Arsenal fans will already be familiar with a lot of names whose career has taken a turn for the worse due to persistent injuries.
