According to reports in the Mirror, Inter Milan are interested in decimating Arsenal’s German fold by moving for German attacker Lukas Podolski. According to the reports, the Serie A giants are ready to offer £11m to Arsenal for his services.
The German star has been more of a peripheral figure at the Emirates owing to injuries and Cazorla been preferred to him on the left wing while he has been persistently overlooked in favour of Frenchman Olivier Giroud in the center forward role.
The desire to enjoy more first team football on a regular basis could see him consider Inter’s interest but Arsenal hold the ace in the transfer as he still has a long term contract with Arsenal. The onus lies on Arsenal whether or not to sell.
If £11m is what Inter want to offer, they have their work cut out because that would not convince Arsenal to sell one player Wenger obviously rates. But should Wenger succeed in bringing in a marquee striker in the summer, it might leave the door open for Podolski to leave the Emirates. But if he does, Arsenal would have to bring in another winger as the exit of Podolski would leave the Gunners short on the wings where the German has predominantly played.
Even if Arsenal decide to sell, they should wait till the end of the World Cup because should he have a very good tournament, his price would soar and allow Arsenal profit from his sale but if he has a bad tournament, it won’t be too bad as the worst that could happen is that Arsenal would be forced to keep him. To me, that isn’t a bad idea.
