Szczesny Commits Future To Arsenal

It is the era of contract renewal at Arsenal. With Mertesacker, Cazorla, Rosicky, Ramsey and Zelalem all signing contract renewals at Arsenal, Arsenal first choice goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has declared that should he be offered an extension, he would sign it in a heartbeat.

“If they give me a contract to the end of my career, I’d sign it without any hesitation,” Szczesny said

“I feel attached to the club and the coach who has given me a chance.

“There are not many who would do that but I must have been good. I see the future here.

“I’ll play at Arsenal as long as am wanted here. I am not afraid to fight for number one with anyone: Fabianski or Casillas.

“I hope I won’t make the boss think, ‘Wojciech’s not number one’. It’s all in my hands. I am in the best form of my life.”

Well said Szczesny. It is good to know he is very appreciative of what Wenger did for him. Not too many players would be that appreciative. Szczesny came into the first team when no one would have expected it. Almunia was messing up and with his cup of errors full, Wenger gave Fabianski a chance but the Pole got injured and with Wenger’s back to the wall, he turned to the younger Pole.

Many years down the line, he has grown in leaps and bounds and he is still growing. He also said that he isn’t afraid of competition, whether it is from countryman Fabianski or Spanish legend Casillas. Does that say something? Probably, it seems there are rumours in the offing that Arsenal might be making a move for the disgruntled Spanish star. A player that isnt afraid of competition must be one ready to improve and it is good to know that Szczesny is ready to.

Everyone seems happy to extend their Arsenal stay. There must be a reason for that. Seems Arsene Wenger has finally found a bunch of loyal soldiers.
