Arsenal Moves Closer To First Summer Signing As Meeting Is Held With Defender

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has intensified in his pursuit of key transfer targets in order to avoid mistakes of last summer transfer window. The boss, according to The Metro was in France recently to discuss the possible transfer of Toulouse defender, Serge Aurier, who has been linked with a move to London.

The Arsenal boss was said to have met with the agent of the Ivorian international to discuss a possible move to the Gunners this summer. The player is being scouted as a possible replacement or backup for Bacary Sagna, who is yet to put pen to paper over a new deal that will see him extend his stay for another two seasons.

The player has a lot of suitors, but the fact that he continues to flirt publicly with the Gunners these past weeks makes London his most likely destination over Turin where Juventus are also said to be interested in signing him. Other clubs interested in the signature of the 21 year old right back include Manchester United and AC Milan.

The report in The Metro suggests that Wenger had a two hour meeting with the right back’s representative to discuss the move. The paper also reports that the discussion went on smoothly, which could be interpreted as saying that the player could well be on his way to London in the summer.

The paper, however, reported that the Gunners are yet to meet with the player’s club in order to table a formal bid for the 21 year old. However, Toulouse seem to have resigned to losing their star man at the end of the season.

Aurier is valued at £10Million according to the Metro, which shouldn’t be a problem for Arsenal considering the kind of position we have found ourselves with Sagna yet to put pen to paper on a deal to extend his contract beyond current season.

Arsenal have also been linked with Sebastian Jung, with The Metro also reporting that a deal is close. The player’s manager also confirmed that a host of clubs including Arsenal are watching the right back at the moment.
