More Injury Worries For Arsenal

Arsenal have not been very lucky this season with injuries to key players, this time around the fans will be worried about the fitness level of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who is battling with a recurring groin problem.

The main worry for Arsenal fans is not just about the player being fit to play in the remaining few matches, but whether or not he will be able to make the World Cup team to Brazil in the summer. According to the Daily Mail, the club’s medical team are doing all they can to manage the player’s fitness level just to keep him fit and fresh for the World Cup.

Chamberlain has progressed steadily since making the move from St Mary’s, but it is now obvious that injury is slowing down his progress. The 20 year old England international was limited to appearing from the bench during his first season at Arsenal, but things changed in his second season as he was allowed more game time by the boss. Though, he has not been able to add a lot of goals to his game since signing for the Gunners, his ability to run at defenders and cause our opponents a lot of problems have really benefited Arsenal.

He is a constant threat to the opposing teams, and this continues to give us a lot of hope. A lot of people thought the injury to Walcott in an FA Cup match played against Spurs at the Emirates won’t be felt that much because of the availability of the youngster, but this was not to be as he seems to now be struggling with a groin problem that keeps affecting his inclusion in the starting lineup.

Arsenal fans are not the only ones worried as the whole of England have cause to be concerned. The England squad is a bit thin at the moment, especially when you consider the fact that both Lampard and Gerrard are getting to the twilight of their careers. It behooves the manager to create a mixture of both experienced and young players like Chamberlain to make England very competitive in the World Cup in Brazil this year.
