Barcelona are on the verge of a massive clear out this summer, and one player that could be on his way of out of the Camp Nou is Alexis Sanchez. The player has been linked with a move to the Gunners, and we take a look at what he could bring to the team and the implication of his signing for the future of Lukaz Podolski.
The Chilean international who has not enjoyed the best of seasons since joining the Catalan giants in 2011 could be a subject of a transfer tussle for some top European clubs including Arsenal and Juventus. Arsenal for instance are in need of a player who could play upfront on his own, and Sanchez fits the bill. The Gunners could also profit from the player’s ability to play on the right and left side of the midfield, which is a great asset. Wenger surely like versatile players.
We have also seen him play from the left side of the field for Barca, which could be a serious threat for a player like Podolski. It is obvious that Podolski is one of the most liked players in the current Arsenal team, but his contribution to the team could be restricted with the arrival of Sanchez possibly in the summer.
25 year old Sanchez has a contract with Barca until the summer of 2016, but could be set to leave the Catalan club this summer as they attempt a rebuilding of their squad after a trophy-less season. Despite only featuring in 27 La Liga matches this season, the 25 year old has notched up 18 goals and made 10 assists. Sanchez has 80.4% pass completion rate, which makes him a vital player in the final third of any team he plays for.
Sanchez is a player who likes to cut inside, and will be a massive signing for a team like Arsenal because of his ability to take long shots. Arsenal are desperately in need of a wide man, and that is why a player like Antoine Griezmann is also being linked with a move to London.
