Bacary Sagna’s Contract Saga Takes Another Twist

New Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal is already setting himself up to be in the bad books of all Arsenal fans as he looks to raid the Emirates for his first signings reports The Daily Mail.

The Netherlands manager was today confirmed as the new boss of Manchester United, and is expected to resume duty immediately after this year’s World Cup in Brazil.

31 year old Sagna has already been linked with a number of clubs including Manchester City and Liverpool. Manchester United already got one over us by signing Robin van Persie two summer ago, and could be set to do that again should Sagna decide to move to Old Trafford as soon as his current contract expires next month. Arsenal in this case are powerless to stop the 31 year old from joining any club, which makes the situation very frustrating.

Shortly after the FA Cup final last Saturday, the 31 year old French international who has been in the club since the past eight seasons gave us some glimmer of hope by saying something could yet be done per his contract face off with the club.

Sagna to BBC on his Arsenal future: “I don’t know…I’ve been talking with the club for a long time and we’ll try to find a solution.”

Sagna could see his chances of regular football limited to a bench role should he sign for City, but could earn more money than what he is currently being offered by Arsenal. Manchester City already boast of one of the best right backs in the EPL in the person of Pablo Zabaleta.

The Daily Mail reports that the Arsenal right back is due to hold formal talks with City’s representatives this week on a possible move to the Etihad. The paper further disclosed that the French international is set to earn a minimum of £100,000 in a deal that will keep him at the reigning EPL Champions until he is 35.

The paper however, reports that Manchester City rivals, United have been mounting pressure on the player’s representatives toward a possible move to Old Trafford this summer.

Arsenal on the other hand are not just seating back and watching as the club is reported to have opened discussion with 21 year old Serge Aurier of Toulouse.
