Arsenal Face Fight From Spanish Giant To Sign Colombian Attacker

According to The Daily Star Arsenal will face competition from Barcelona to sign Colombian international winger Juan Cuadrado who plays for Fiorentina in the Serie A.

26 year old Cuadrado is one of the most sort after players in Europe with Bayern Munich also on his trail. His ability to play as a right back is probably the reason why the Spanish club are after his signature. Barca are on the verge of overhauling the squad, and some players are rumoured to be on their way out of the club, with players like Cuadrado and a few others rumoured to be on their way to the Catalan club.

Cuadrado is worth around £20 Million, and that may not be much of a problem for a few clubs considering his versatility. His ability to play as a full back will no doubt excite a lot of managers and that no wonder he is being linked with a move to the Emirates.

Arsenal are set to lose 31 year old Bacary Sagna to Manchester City according to various media sources and a player of Cuadrado’s status won’t be a bad replacement. However, Wenger is not one to enter into a bidding war over a player, and could opt for a cheaper, but also reliable option.

A reliable and more affordable alternative is already in the offing, and that is why twitter was on a meltdown last night when a twit showing a video of Serge Aurier supposedly taken by and Arsenal fan made the rounds.

Aurier is five years younger than Cuadrado, but is already an established Ivorian international. He was nominated into the Ligue 1 team of the season. He is said to be worth around £8 Million, which is quite a bargain these days. The player has also added goals to his game due to his ability to overlap and join in the attack. Aurier was able to score six goals last season; and that is not a bad return for a player who is only 21 and also a defender.
