While rumours linking Arsenal with a move for former captain Cesc Fabregas have suddenly become the main subject in the social media these past weeks; that of Sven Bender of Borussia Dortmund seems to have surfaced in the press with The Daily Mail linking us with a move for the 25 year old.
The Daily Mail has linked us with a £15 Million move for the German international who was recently ejected from the camp of the German national team and will not be a part of the squad going to this year’s World Cup in Brazil. Bender is one of the most consistent midfielders in the German Bundesliga.
The tabloid reveals that the Arsenal manager wants the player in place of Cesc Fabregas and is readying a £15 Million bid to sign him from Dortmund this summer. Wenger wants Bender as a cover for the back four and this may seem a better option than opting to sign Fabregas according to the paper.
Arsenal may have one of the best midfield in the EPL, but the team could do with some depth especially with players like Rosicky and Arteta slowing down on their games due to the fact that they are getting closer to the end of their careers.
The manager had a bid for Sven’s brother Lars turned down last summer and is unlikely to return with another bid this summer. With £100 Million burning in his pocket, Wenger has a lot of decision to make regarding his summer transfer plans. Without a doubt, our transfer priority should be a centre forward, a right back to replace Bacary Sagna, a defensive midfielder and a goalkeeper to replace Lukasz Fabianski who recently signed a five year deal with Swansea.
Reports have also been rife in the media in the past three days that the club has agreed personal terms with QPR striker Loic Remy. The player is available for just £8 Million, and is also being monitored by Tottenham and Liverpool.
