Alexis Sanchez And Di Maria To Arsenal?

There are several players that have been linked to the Emirates during this summer. Along these lines, Argentine and Real Madrid winger Angel Di Madrid has been linked. With reports, saying that Real Madrid wants £40 million for his services. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have been mooted as clubs interested in his services.

The Argentine was initially linked to the Emirates last season when Real Madrid intended to use the Argentine as a make weight in a deal to bring Gareth Bale to the Madrid capital.

That he was close to joining Arsenal last season before Real Madrid opted to sell Mesut Ozil in his stead could swing any deal in favour of Arsenal. Beside that, the lanky winger has been a player that has been in Arsene Wenger’s radar during his formative days in Benfica before he sealed the move to Real Madrid.

Despite the various players Arsenal has spread across the midfield, there are no actual natural wingers in the team to give width to the setup. The speculation linking wingers to the Emirates has cooled down. Though, Alexis Sanchez has been linked instead more as a striker than as a winger.

The question then; can Arsenal get in Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez in one window? Going by their price tag it is very unlikely that the club will spend over 80% of it transfer budget on two attacking players when positions in defence has to be filled.

Assuming, the dream scenario becomes plausible, does the club need a Di Maria if it brings in Alexis Sanchez. The fact that Arsenal lacks a natural winger means, they both can come in at the same time to do a job no other player in the squad can do. With the energy, pace, and surprise element of both players in the final third, then they can take the team to another level.

Angel Di Maria was particularly unplayable last season for Real Madrid, proving his worth against the backdrop of the Madrid’s hierarchy plans to ditch him. The deadly wing play of the Argentine is ably represented in his statistics. He featured in 34 La Liga matches for Madrid last season, with 27 starts, coming up with a total of  an incredible 17 assist with just four goals.

In the Champions League, in 11 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side he had 5 assist, with one of those being the vital pre assist for Gareth Bale’s clinching goal for Real Madrid in Lisbon.

Angel Di Maria is a rare winger, who though a left footer, can play in both wings and in the hole. His burst of speed is remarkable, and at 26 years, he is only just entering his peak. It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid goes ahead with their long term plans to sell him this summer.
