Good News For Arsenal As Newcastle Targets Richards As Debuchy’s Replacement

When the summer transfer window arrives, certain transfers are almost completed in the press before any negotiation starts between the selling and buying clubs. A little over a week ago, Arsenal was reported to have reached an agreement with Newcastle for the transfer of Mathieu Debuchy. Yet, the reports emanating from the press now is that negotiations have just started between both clubs.

Newcastle in turn are seeking a replacement right back for Mathieu Debuchy. As such Micah Richards has been linked to St. James Park as his role at the Ethiad is expected to be reduced further following the arrival of Bacary Sagna.

The Manchester City youth product is reported to be available for a little over a £3 million. The defender endured a difficult time last season as he could not meet up the required number of matches for a Premier League medal despite being the longest serving member of the blue side of Manchester following is modicum number of appearances during the course of last season.

What this means in effect is that Micah Richards possible arrival at Newcastle could hasten the departure of Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal.

The circle of the transfer has shifted from fee agreed to having a medical in few days, to negotiations have just started. What is however clear, from the media reports as confined by the player himself is that, it is a fact that he has been linked to Arsenal, but that negotiations have just started between both clubs.

The domino effect of transfers within clubs was evident from the events of last summer when the transfer of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid triggered the arrival of Mezut Ozil from Madrid. Same scenario is likely to play out as the transfer window reaches overdrive.

Mathieu Debuchy who made 29 appearances for Newcastle United last season is already on the throes of joining the club, but the magpies could choose to delay the deal until it gets in a replacement. And that replacement could very well be the aforementioned Micah Richards.

The media circus surrounding this transfer will no doubt continue until the transfer is announced. As the club’s first pre-season match of the summer draws ever nearer, on the 26th of July 2014. It could be said that the announcement will not be far of as everybody awaits the signings the club will come up with at the end of the transfer window.
