Barca Puts Hold On Alexis Sanchez’s Transfer To Arsenal

The speculations surrounding the transfer of Alexis Sanchez takes on new dimensions each passing day. When many in the corridors of the press are of the opinion that the Chilean would soon complete his deal to Arsenal, another report has emerged that Barcelona could delay the deal so as to reap more money from the transfer. It is no secret that Juventus are also interested in the Chilean. However, where there are issues is whether they can meet the demands of the Catalan giants.

The same report claim to the effect, that Arsenal has improved the bid of 34 million Pounds for the Chilean, yet the Catalans want a bidding war between clubs who wants the attacker. What is clear is that Juventus cannot match the fee that Arsenal will come up with. The only way that can be possible is whether the Italian Champions can sell Arturo Vidal for the sums being branded in the press. By that, the same scenario that played out last summer when Napoli sold Edinson Cavani  for 55 million Pounds, before it could buy Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid under the noses of Arsenal, could very well play out again.

As the haze surrounding this transfer refuses to clear, what could possibly happen if this particular transfer does not see the light of the day? Although, many persons affiliated to the club would not want to countenance such a scenario, there is no doubt that what happened last summer could play out again at the Emirates. Which other target(s) can the club bring in the event that this particular deal ends up in dead waters?

Marcos Reus of Borussia Dortmund could well come into the picture as a replacement. With a clause of 35 million Pounds in his contract, the club has the capacity to meet such a clause. However following the departure of Robert Lewandonski to Bayern Munich on a free transfer, it unlikely that the Dortmund hierarchy will consider a player that is instrumental to their position in the Bundesliga.

Then there is Julian Draxler of Schalke who was close to joining the club in January, but the deal couldn’t pull through. The 20 year old who had an inconsistent time for his club last season can play in the wings, and he also has the capacity to play in the attack. A fee in the region of 30 million Pounds could prize the youngster away from Germany. However, since the summer transfer window started, there has not been any hint of a link surrounding the player which makes any move unlikely.

Other possible targets that could come in, should a deal for the Chilean fails, are Antione Greizmann of Real Sociedad and France, as well as Juan Cuadrado of Fiorentina and Colombia.

However, there will be no transfer like that of Alexis Sanchez as it has the potential of lifting the club to new heights especially with the reputation that the Chilean comes with in terms of having the pace, energy and drive that club has lacked for several seasons.
