£18m Rated Midfielder Can Now Move To Arsenal As Replacement Is Found

As Arsenal continue it search to bring in a defensive midfielder, the club of one of the players that have been linked seem for be preparing for his exit. Morgan Schneiderlin has been the subject of several links to Arsenal over the past week. And Southampton are already anticipating that the highly rated Frenchman would be the subject of a transfer from other clubs As a result, new Saints manager Ronald Koeman is looking to bring in 23 year old Feyenoord midfielder Jordy Clasie.

Southampton has already brought in two players from the Dutch league in striker Graziano Pelle from Feyenoord, and FC Twente midfielder Dusan Tadic after the departures of Ricky Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw.

Southampton seems to be pre-empting the French midfielder’s exit by moving for Jordy Clasie. As they wouldn’t have be planning to move for the Feyenoord captain if Morgan Schneiderlin’s future is not in doubt.

As the future of the Saints midfielder remains uncertainty, there have been reports that Tottenham Hotspur is also interested in signing of Morgan Schneiderlin. Who between the two North London clubs have a better chance to secure the services of the midfielder?

Arsenal has something going for them which is Champions League football, and the fact that most players cherish playing under Arsene Wenger could increase the chances of the club to sign him. Besides, at just 24 year of age, he is 8 years and 6 years younger than Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini respectively which means he can be the long term replacement for both players in the midfield.

On the other hand, he once played for Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton, and the opportunity to play for the Argentine again at White Hart Lane could be an appealing one to him. With the club on the other end of Seven Sisters road already stocked in the holding midfield role, it looks unlikely that Daniel Levy would sanction a move for the Saints midfielder with Etienne Capoue, Sandro and other players in holding midfield position; they could be reluctant to move for him. Yet Mauricio Pottechino could decide to bring in a player he is already used to.

As the speculation surrounding Morgan Schneiderlin continues, it would be interesting to see how this transfer story develops as he would be returning back for pre-season soonest, and by then it would become clear whether he still wants to remain with the Saints or whether he would end up at Arsenal.
