Arsenal will this week make a bid of £35 million for Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan according to various reports in Germany today. The 27-year-old attacker has been linked with a move to Juventus after he refused Dortmund’s offer of a contract extension but Arsenal are said to be working to hijack the deal. Reports claim the player wants to play in the Premier league and with City not interested, Arsenal have a good chance of signing the Armenian international midfielder.assi
Having scored 19 goals and created 24 assists last season, Mkhitaryan was recently voted the best player in Germany in the just concluded season and with just a year left on his contract, Dortmund could be forced to sell him this summer if he continues to reject their contract offer.
Arsenal could do with a player like Mkhitaryan. His versatility means he can be a back up choice to Mesut Ozil aside replacing Theo Walcott on the wing. With Walcott linked with a move back to Southampton and West Ham also said to be ready to make a big money offer for him, it won’t be a surprise if he leaves Arsenal this summer and I doubt there will be anyone who will complain shoudl Walcott leaves and Mkhitaryan is brought in as his replacement.
