Arsenal are set to repeat what they did with midfielder Joel Campbell on Argentine and Velez Sarsfield forward Maximiliano Romero. The move for Romero has been ongoing for sometime behind the scenes before Romero’s agent Rolando Zarate made it public.
According to Zarate, Arsenal look set to sign the 17-year-old who has recently been compared to Lionel Messi. After the signing Romero, it is likely that he will be sent back on loan to continue to develop his career with Velez for two years just like the case of Costa Rican star Joel Campbell in 2011.
The two years loan is to enable the forward to fully develop and horn his skills before being allowed into the senior side of Arsenal. While this was successful with Campbell, it is alleged that it is the sole reason the scenario is to be repeated with Romero.
With the likes of Giroud in their late 20’s and Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott in their mid-20’s , there is need to have Romero back at Arsenal in the next two years to lead the Gunners attack.
