From all indication, Arsenal have made their second summer signing. According to daily mail, Arsenal have officially made a bid for Bolton Wanderers’ Rob Holding which Bolton will accept. Arsenal had initially made a bid of £700,000 for the player but have now made an improved £1.2 million bid for him and from all indication, he will be signing for us.
Despite Bolton having a poor season which led to their relegation, Rob Holding was voted into the Championship team of the year which goes to show how good he is. He has been linked with a move to Tottenham as well which makes it even sweeter. We shouldn’t be finishing ahead of Tottenham in the league alone, we should be beating them to key signings as well.
Still 20-year-old, Rob Holding will be joining Arsenal as a long term replacement for Mertesacker who is likely to have his last season with us next season. The German turns 32 in September and there is a real chance his contract which expires in 2017 will not be renewed.
With Luarent Koscienly also 31 already, it appears both Calum Chambers and Rob Holding are long term replacement for the Frenchman and the German. Should Holding sign for us which is almost certain, he will likely be used more in the cup games and when there is need to rest the senior players or in November when we have our annual injury crisis.
