Arsenal are set to sign Wolfsburg’s left-back Ricardo Rodriguez as the exit of Arsenal’s long serving left-back (Kieran Gibbs) looms large.
The signing will make it the second time that Arsenal will be signing a player from the Bundesliga this season after last week’s signing of Borussia Mochengladbach’s midfielder Granit Xhaka.
Rodriguez is also a Swiss international like Xhaka and according to reports will cost Arsenal a whopping £19 million. Rodriguez it was gathered still has three years left on his contract with Wolfsburg who made it to the quarter-final of the Champions League this season before losing to Real Madrid on aggregate after beating Zinedine Zidane’s team 2-0 in Germany in the first leg.
Rodriguez will be an able competitor to first choice Nacho Monreal. The Swiss left-back has played 113 Bundesliga games scoring 20 goals which will fit perfectly for the Gunners if signed.
