After signing Granit Xhaka and looking like they will be signing Alvaro Morata, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and his team are working hard to ensure aside bringing in key players to the current squad, they do not lose the core of the current first team and the youth team players.
To this end, according to an official statement on Arsenal’s official website, the Gunners have tied down one of their brightest prospects Chiori Johnson to a new long term contract. Wenger has over the years put a lot of effort in ensuring the club produces young players who end up graduating to the first team.
Last season, Chiori Johnson was a key member of the Arsenal team that went all the way to the Semi Finals of the Youth FA Cup. He was also a member of the under 19 team that played in the UEFA Youth league. His wonderful performances earned him a couple of starts for the under 21 as well and got called to the first team for training which shows he is not far away.
The very versatile defender has signed a contract extension which is an indication that the club regards him and sees him as part of the club’s future.
