Finally A CB? Arsenal On The VERGE Of Signing €88,000-A-Week CB

According to various reports in the media in the last few weeks, Arsenal plan to bring in a CB and a striker alongside the already signed Granit Xhaka. And now according to more reports from the German and the French media, Arsenal started discussing with Bayern Munich with a view of signing Mehdi Benatia.

The Moroccan is now surplus to requirement at Bayern Munich as they already signed Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund. This situation Arsenal will take advantage of to sign Benatia on the cheap according to the reports. The highly rated former AS Roma centre back is reportedly available for €15 million. This is due to his age and the fact that he is surplus to requirement. Bayern Munich are obviously desperate to get rid of him and as soon as possible.

This is such an interesting news in that we could do with the quality of Benatia and the fact that he is available for cheap makes it even more interesting as Wenger is know to want his players cheap. He is everything Wenger wants in a player – Speaks French – Check, he is cheap – check, he is a ball playing defender – check. The only thing is he is not young but again Wenger signed a 31 year old Petr Cech.

His wage demands will also not be an issue considering he earns a managable €88,000 a week according to his pay slip which was leaked two years back.
