Arsenal have been handed a handy boost as it have emerged that Chelsea have abandoned talks on the purported signing of the AS Roma 24-year-old Greek centre-back in the summer.
It is a common knowledge that after the abysmal showing of Arsene Wenger’s side last season where the failed to take advantage of the slips of Champions Leicester City. Wenger wants to pair Manolas with purported captain and French man Laurent Koscieny next summer as the form of Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker is anything but encouraging and solid.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea abandoned the negotiation to sign the Greek Internation in order to concentrate on signing his team mate and defensive midfielder Radja Nainngollan who the view as a priority. This is not the first time Wenger is targeting the defender as he tried to no avail to sign him several times last season and a season before, though it is still too early to ascertain if the deal will go through.
