Arsenal have been given hopes of the potential signing of Gabonese Captain and Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre -Emerick Aubameyang after his national team Coach Jorge Costa disclosed his unavailability for an international friendly as a result of his plans to move to a new club this summer.
This is coming after the former Saint Etienne forward was linked with several big clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and then Arsenal all through last season. Although speculations about the future of the forward is on the Increase, BVD had severally denied it even alleging at a point that he was indispensable.
The 26-year -old former AC Milan forward is valued around £70 million and it seems more likely that he will be leaving the Bundesliga Runners-Up in the summer after he was granted permission to miss his country’s international friendly to sort out his future by his national team coach .
The coach had this to say about the forward to RFI during an interview, “Aubameyang has asked not to be selected for the national team because he is changing clubs.”
Aubameyang had an impressive season after scoring 39 goals in 45 competitions for BVD last season.
Though an upgrade on the likes of Oliver Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott, the forward isn’t suited to ball possession football like Arsene Wenger’s side. Aubameyang’s lightening pace suits teams that rely on a counter-attack as he was at a time rated the fastest player in the Bundesliga last season.
The forward is also a perfect finisher but relies so much on taking the defenders unawares while out of position which suits team’s who play on the counter -attack as the fullback’s of the opponent bump forward.
This doesn’t rule out his move to Arsenal but it might not be the best of moves for both parties at the end.
