According to reports, Arsenal and AS Roma are set to meet next week to reach an agreement over the permanent transfer of Wojciech Szczesny. Szczesny joined Roma last summer in a season-long loan deal after being replaced by Petr Cech as first-choice goalkeeper at the Emirates stadium.
Szczesny enjoyed a good season in the Serie A last term and it seems he will br in Italy for another year. Only this time it will not be a loan deal. According to respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio who is a representative of Roma’s, the Italian side and Arsenal will meet formally next week to hold talks over a permanent transfer for the Poland international.
The deal which is reported to be worth around £11.7million would see Szczesny say a final goodbye to the Emirates after a decade of being a Gunner.
Arsene Wenger recently insinuated that the shot-stopper remains a part of his plans. With Szczesny leaving and David Ospina looking to secure a transfer to another club this summer, Wenger will have to find a new back-up goalkeeper for Cech.
