If reports emanating from the German press is to be believed, Arsenal may have been given the go ahead to complete the signing of Champions league and world cup winner Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich. The Germany world cup hero was thought to be on his way to Liverpool but according to reports from Germany, the player has made it clear he won’t go to Liverpool nor will he want to go back to Dortmund as he sees both club as a step backward in his young career.
He went further to state that a move to Arsenal, Barca and Real Madrid will be more appealing to him than a move to Liverpool or Dortmund. This is good news for Arsenal especially as it seems we have the intention of signing a winger this summer hence the links to Mahrez and Mkhitaryan.
Signing Gotze will be a sort of a double edge sword for us in that just like Mkhitaryan, he can play in the Mesut Ozil role when necessary and as he played at the last world cup, he can play the false nine role too. And considering he is surplus to requirement at Bayern Munich, it shouldn’t be that difficult for us to get him especially as Real Madrid and Barca do not need him right now.
He will be a massive upgrade on Theo Walcott and won’t cost us £140,000 a week considering he is reportedly earning just £90,000 a week at Bayern Munich currently.
