Sensational news this afternoon is that Arsenal chief deal maker Dick Law has flown to Germany to hold talks with Borussia Dortmund for Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian international has constantly been linked with a move to Arsenal and the rumours only last week intensified.
Reports claim the Bundesliga player of the year has rejected Dortmund’s offer for a new contract and has been in talks with Arsenal. Though Chelsea are said to also be interested, it is reported that the Blues’ lack of Champions league football means Mkhitaryan is not considering them at all.
Although there are usually many rumours flying around at this period in the world football, but the fact that Dortmund have this week been linked with a move for Riccardo Saponara who plays for Empoli in the Serie A is a pointer to the fact that maybe, just maybe there is something in the rumours.
Also, reports claim Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to let Joel Campbell, OXlade Chamberlain and Theo Walcott leave which means at least one right sided winger has to be brought in. Enters Mkhitaryan.
Having scored 19 goals and created 24 assists in the Bundesliga last season, Mkhitaryan has a year left on his contract and has so far turned down Dortmund’s offer for a renewal which means the German have two choices, sell him now or lose him on a free transfer next summer. They are surely they won’t want to miss out on a chance to get 35 million or therebout for their priced asset.
