Mkhitaryan To Become A Gunner, Dortmund To Sign Saponara As Replacement

If reports in the German media is anything to go by, it appears Arsenal have finally won the race to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund and the deal will be announced in a couple of days. According to reports, Dortmund are interested in signing Riccardo Saponara from Empoli of Italy.

Dortmund reportedly were not ready to sell the player despite he not agreeing to sign a new contract and prefer to lose him on a free transfer but it appears they have had a change of mind and the player may not be on his way out in a deal said to be in the region of £30 million which if true is cheap for a player who was the best in the Bundesliga last season.

Should Arsenal sign Mkhitaryan, it could only mean Theo Walcott is certainly off as I simply can’t see Arsenal signing Jamie Vardy and Mkhitaryan and then retaining Walcott. The Englishman’s first team chances will be almost none existent which won’t go down well with him.

Also, knowing Wenger, should he sign Mkhitaryan, Wenger will certainly want to get rid of Walcott as he reportedly earns £140,000 a week. No player earning that much will warm the bench at Arsenal.
