In a news that will shock the world if true, Arsenal are said to be close to announcing the signing of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City. The player according to a report by the TIMES newspaper has told his close friends and relatives that he will be going to Arsenal. Leicester were initially thought to be ready to offer the player a new contract that will see him earn £100,000 a week but if the report by the TIMES is correct, the player is not interested in the Leicester City offer.
PSG, Chelsea and Manchester United have also been linked with the signing of the Algerian. He however made it clear last March that he doesn’t fancy a return to the French League and it appears the lack of Champions League football at both Manchester United and Chelsea have helped Arsenal in winning the race for the signature of the player. I mean, why should he leave Leicester City for Chelsea or United when he can play Champions League football with the Foxes or with Arsenal?
Arsenal will reportedly pay him £100,000 a week. And should the transfer happen, which is likely considering he has a £25 million release clause which Leicester have no choice than to honour, it will bring to question the future of Theo Walcott who himself has been linked with a move to Liverpool, Leicester City, his former club Southampton and Wester Ham United.
