According to reports in Brazil, Premier league side Arsenal have made contact with Atletico Mineiro regarding the transfer of Douglas Santos.
The left-back moved from Italian side Udinese to Brazilian outfit Mineiro in July 2015 for £2.3m, signing a four-year contract. Douglas, 22, has since attracted plenty of interest around Europe, with FC Barcelona also keen.
Barccelona see him as an ideal back-up option to Spanish full back Jordi Alba who can provide some serious competition for him.
It’s believed that Arsenal have contacted Atletico about the player, despite interest from Barcelona. According to Brazilian outlet Hoje Em Dia, Douglas is expected to cost any suitor around £7.7million and Atletico are ready to lose him this summer.
Brazilian outlet Hoje em Dia says that Arsenal have been in touch with Mineiro over a possible transfer.
The youngster has made one international appearance for Brazil in his career, starting in their recent 2-0 friendly victory over Panama.
He was part of the Brazilian youth sides that won the recently held Toulon Tournament. With Arsenal making the first move for the youngster, it looks like the Gunners are in pole position to sign him.
