Arsenal fans are by now tired of seeing Theo Walcott going missing in important games and would certainly like Wenger to sign a wing forward that is capable of delivering more to the team than Walcott. To this end, we have been linked with the signing of different right sided wingers in the market. From Pjanic, to Mkhitaryan, to Mahrez and now Mario Gotze.
According to reports from the German media, which are often quite reliable, Arsenal are on the verge of beating Liverpool and Manchester United to the signing of Bayern Munich and Germany international midfielder Mario Gotze. The world cup winner was thought to be on his way to Liverpool but according to reports, Arsenal have emerged as the CLEAR favorites for the signature of the former Dortmund star after he himself ruled out a return to Dortmund or a move to Liverpool.
Liverpool were said to be desperate for the signature of Gotze but with the Reds not playing in the Champions League next season, the lack of Champions League football is set to put paid to Liverpool’s chances to Arsenal’s advantage.
Gotze joining Arsenal will be a massive boost. He will not only ensure we don’t see much of Theo Walcott any more ( bar when there are injuries ), his versatility also means he can play in the Ozil role and as well as upfront as a false nine.
