With Jamie Vardy rejecting us and choosing to sign a new four years contract with Leicester City and Cavani staying at PSG, Arsenal have lost yet another target. This time to our rivals Chelsea. According to L’Equipe, Chelsea have agreed a fee of £33.2m for Michy Batshuayi, who is set to put pen to paper on a five-year contract for London club Chelsea.
Arsenal fans will be wandering why Arsene Wenger did not try to sign this player fantastic young man after a failed attempt to sign Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy among other targets.
Batshuayi has since been linked with a move to the English Premier League after scoring 23 goals in all competitions for French side Marseille last season.
Unlike Arsenal, Crystal Palace reportedly had a shock £32m bid accepted for the 22-year-old, while the Daily Mail last night reported that North London club Tottenham were leading the race to complete a deal.
But with the look of things, Chelsea have once again stolen a march on their rivals, and according to RMC Sport, the Belgium international is set to receive special permission to complete a medical with Chelsea later today.
Batshuayi, is currently representing his Nation at Euro 2016, and has been linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs after scoring 17 goals in Ligue 1 last season.
Incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte is reportedly a big admirer of Batshuayi, and is said to have personally approved the deal.
With the way things are going for Arsene Wengers Arsenal in this summer transfer window, Arsenal might end up not signing a good striker like they’ve always done and end the season trophy less once again.
