With only Granit Xhaka signed so far, Arsenal seem to be working hard behind the scene to bring in quality players to the Emirates. North London club Arsenal has made contact with Brazilian club Corinthians to ask for more information regarding highly-rated midfielder Maycon according to a report in Brazilian outlet esporte.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly gearing up for a busy summer transfer window and has already splashed out around £30m on Granit Xhaka while the Gunners are also searching for a new striker after being snubbed by England international Jamie Vardy.
It seems the Arsenal boss is also looking ahead to the future as Brazilian media esporte claims the Emirate club has approached Brazil club Corinthians about their talented young midfielder Maycon.
According to report, Arsenal hierarchy has asked Corinthians for more information on Maycon’s physical state as well as his value for a potential deal to acquire the highly-rated youngster.
The youngster has been with Corinthians since joining the club as an 11-year-old back in 2009 and has developed well; making progressed through the youth ranks before breaking in to the first team set-up this year.
The wonder kid turn 19 next month and is regarded as one of the hottest young talents in Brazilian football, but as expected, he is still struggling to get regular playing time with the Corinthians first team and has spent much of the season with the U-20′s.
Getting a work permit for the youngster at the moment seem impossible as he’s only represented Brazil at U-17 level so should Arsenal sign him now, the club would need to apply for a ‘special talent’ visa. Otherwise, he would be sent out to a European club for a couple of years to gain a passport, but even that could depend on several factors after Britain voted to leave the EU.
