In a transfer news that will have a positive domino effect on Arsenal, Spanish club Atletico Madrid have reportedly opened talks with Premier League side Liverpool regarding a summer transfer for Belgium striker Christian Benteke.
The Belgium international striker has struggled to perform at Anfield having dropped to third-choice striker behind England international striker Daniel Sturridge and Belgium team mate Divock Origi.
Benteke, 25, was bought for £32m by former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers during his spell at the Merseyside club in July 2015, but the Rodger’s replacement Jurgen Klopp is reportedly prepared to sell.
Atletico Madrid have commenced discussions over a move, and Liverpool are holding out for a bid in the region of €30m (£24.7m) according to Fichajes.net.
Spanish newspaper Sport claim Atletico Madrid want to sign Benteke and negotiations are underway. If this report is true, and it appears to be considering the intensity of the reports in the Spanish press, then it means Arsenal are cleared to sign Luciano Vietto.
Only yesterday news emerged that Arsenal has agreed to let Arsenal sign Luciano Vietto and from all indication, they see Benteke as the ideal replacement for the Arsenal target.
Luciano Vietto will reportedly be available for 27 million and according to reports, Arsenal have agreed person terms with the player and are only waiting for Atletico to agree to let the player go.
