After having signed Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach and Takuma Asano from an Asian club, Arsenal are said to be edging close to their third summer signing according to various media reports today including Skysports. According to reports, Arsenal have had some successs in the chase for the signature of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
According to a report by Skysports, which was echoed by Daily Mirror, Arsenal and Real Madrid are at an advanced stage in their discussion for the signature of the 23-year-old striker. Madrid only last week activated their buy back clause on Morata and were said to be ready to keep him for next season but according to reports, the player has made it clear he does not want to remain a benchwarmer and for this reason, Real Madrid are ready to listen to offers for him.
He has been linked with moves to Chelsea and PSG but it appears both clubs can’t guarantee him regular first team chances hence the ball is now in Arsenal’s court to complete the signing of the player. He is reportedly demanding in excess of 140,000 a week wage package which Arsenal according to the reports is ready to pay.
Skysports and Mirror reckon a deal will be agreed this week and the player will undergo his medical before Friday.
