Arsenal search for a striker this summer has been far and wide. From been rejected by Jamie Vardy to be priced out of a move for Morata and now the most ridiculous of them all.
According to reports yesterday, former Arsenal captain Robin van Persie could return to the Premier League after being put up for sale by his current Turkish club Fenerbahce. And Arsenal is a likely destination.
The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker recently signed a four-year deal with Fenerbahce, but has already expressed his desire to move away from the club.
Robin van Persie lashed out against Fenerbahce’s manager, Vitor Pereira, last February when he stated he would not be able to help his team if he is kept on the bench.
The 32-year-old is now thought to be unhappy and wishes to move after just one season at Fenerbahce.
According to the Sun, Premier League clubs like West Ham and Crystal Palace have been linked with Van Persie after missing out on Chelsea bound Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi,
Robin Van Persie’s agents are thought to have offered him to a lot of clubs but the former united striker allegedly wants to return to London, making a move to either of the above sides a high possibility.
Fenerbahce president Azil Yildirim speaking earlier this week said: “Van Persie? We’re waiting for buyers, if he wants to be sold.”
As a result, the striker would be moving away from Fenerbahce, Arsenal fans have already called on Arsene Wenger to bring back one of their best strikers.
Van Persie joined Fenerbahce for £4m last summer transfer window, playing 45 games throughout the season during which he scored 20 goals.
