Arsenal supporters are no strangers to near misses as the club has been linked with a lot of players, need I correct myself great players, such as; Zlatan Ibrahamovic, Cristiano Ronaldo, Eden Hazard, Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain just to mention but a few.
Arsenal as a club have not also missed out on signing marquee signings but have not won the league in 10 years. Fans and pundits are all asking questions about Wenger’s transfer policy and inability to be thorough after it was announced that Arsenal’s target Vincent Janssen is set to join North London bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspurs.
22-year-old Dutch sensation Vincent Janssen is set to complete a £16m transfer from AZ Alkmaar to Tottenham next week. Janssen has been linked with Arsenal and Spurs this summer after a fine season for AZ in the Dutch top flight, winning the golden boot with 27 goals, making 4 assists in 38 appearances.
Janssen is said to be a complete player at his position: clinical finishing, good with the ball at his feet and able to hold up play and pass to his teammates. Janssen created more chances than anybody in the Alkmaar side while also being the top scorer – that’s nothing if not impressive, but the kind of man to be joining Arsenal.
With Arsenal needing an experienced striker to deputise for Giroud, fans will be upset to hear, that their bitter rivals were allowed to strengthen their attack force with Janssen, who could have easily been wearing a gunners jersey next season.
