There have been many reports linking Arsenal to the signing of Alvaro Morata. According to the reports, Arsenal and Chelsea are the forerunner for the signature of the Spaniard. However, newer reports today claim Morata is using Premier League pursuit to negotiate himself an improved deal at Real Madrid.
Morata, 23, recently rejoined Real Madrid from Serie A champions Juventus, who are now thinking of cashing in heavily on the Spaniard for a huge profit. According to AS, the Gunners are willing to pay Morata about £9million a year to join the North London club, which is sending a big statement over to Real Madrid.
Morata and his agent are looking to improve his current wages of £65,000 a week, as well as assurances over his position, according to a report in Spanish newspaper AS.
It’s widely thought that if Morata is to stay at the Bernabeu, then he’d have to play second fiddle to first choice striker Karim Benzema, who is not likely to go anywhere fast as long as French compatriot Zinedine Zidane is in charge of the Madrid based club.
Real Madrid had to cough out £25million to get Morata to return back to the club after spending two years in Turin, and now they could be ready to sell the player for huge profit in order to fund big money moves.
Arsenal will certainly be hopeful but the general feeling is that Morata is ready to step up and challenge for a first team shirt at Real.
