€16m BID ACCEPTED, 5-Years Deal AGREED, Arsenal Target Signs

The Gunners have once again lost out on one of its summer transfer target as French defender Djibril Sidibe has finally opted to join French Ligue 1 side Monaco despite a late surge from London club Arsenal to sign him from Lille.

Sidibe, 23, has signed a five-year-deal with French side Monaco on Friday, the news was confirmed by Monaco on their official website.

The player who has since been heavily linked with a move to Monaco, but a late approach from Arsenal made the situation dicier in the last 48 hours. Lille and Monaco had previously agreed in principle to a deal worth €16m in a package that would see Rony Lopes moving to Lille on a loan for next season.

According to Reputed journalist Gianluca di Marzio, two days back Arsenal had stepped up their interest in Sidibe and were close to signing him.

It is no more news that Arsenal are hoping to sign a top striker this summer with the Emirate club being strongly linked with a move for French striker former Juventus striker Alvaro Morata is also on the short-list.
