Reports in France today indicates that Arsenal have finally won the race to sign Lyon striker Alexander Lacazette and that the French clubside are already shopping for Lacaette’s replacement. According to the reports, Lyon are on the verge of signing Racing Club striker Roger Martinez. The Colombian reportedly has a release clause which is put at €8 million which Lyon will have to activate if they want to get the South American.
The 22 year old striker recently featured for Colombia in the Copa American and is well rated in the Belgian league and in South America. Although Jean-Michel Aulas the Lyon club president and owner has recently revealed that Arsenal are yet to make an offer or Lacazette but by signing or wanting to sign Martinez, Lyon are technically admitting their prized asset Lacazette will leave the club.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly held talks with the agents of Lacazette and is sure a deal can be reached between Arsenal and Olympic Lyon. Should Lacazette join Arsenal, it will be interesting to see who between him and Giroud will be first choice. Giroud currently benches him at national team level, will the same thing happen at club level? Only time will tell.
